2. Orlando Predators Acquire Former New England Patriots Receiver

The Orlando Predators announced on Jan. 23 that they have been assigned wide receiver Buddy Farnham for the 2012 Arena Football League season.

3. Second VooDoo Open Tryout Set For This Saturday

The New Orleans VooDoo will hold its second open tryout this Saturday, January 28 at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. with the tryout starting at 11 a.m.

4. Tracy Belton Returns to Georgia Force for 2012

The Arena Football League announced on Jan. 24 that the Georgia Force have been assigned defensive back Tracy Belton for the 2012 season.

On Monday the Orlando Predators added two more pieces along the defensive line with the signings of three-time UFL championship-game starter McKinley Boykin (6�1, 300, Mississippi) and local product Bert Whigham (6�4, 255, Illinois State).

The Cleveland Gladiators won the Eastern Division title in 2011 and hosted a playoff game. But next year�s schedule is already out and it�s time to look ahead to 2012. While some players will be returning to the team, like quarterback John Dutton, others, unfortunately, will not. Therefore, the time is now to begin building a new team for next season.

24. Mustangs sign two rookies

The Milwaukee Mustangs announce the assignments of defensive lineman Terron Sanders (6�2, 330, Florida), and offensive lineman Brent McNeil (6�3, 315, California Lutheran) to the 2012 roster.

25. Storm to unveil new logo, uniform and season ticket member packages for 2012

The Tampa Bay Storm will host Storm Fest 2012 at the St. Pete Times Forum Saturday, November 5 at 6:00 PM. During this interactive event, fans will have to opportunity to meet team President Derrick Brooks and Storm players, get a first peek at the new logo and uniform design, tour the arena and learn about new season ticket member benefits.

26. 2011 AFL Defensive Lineman of the Year returns

Cliff Dukes will return to the Tampa Bay Storm and wide receiver Chandler Williams will join him, announced head coach Dave Ewart. Dukes (6-foot-3, 280 lbs., Michigan State) enters his fourth season in the AFL and with the Storm. He has earned All-Arena honors in 2010 and 2011, was named the 2011 AFL Defensive Lineman of the Year and a finalist for the 2011 AFL Defensive Player of the Year.

27. AFL and Spalding launch 25th Anniversary game ball

The AFL, in conjunction with Spalding, is pleased to announce the launch of its special edition, 25th Anniversary game ball. As the League enters its 25th season in 2012, the ball aims to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the Arena Football League.

28. Gladiators to Hold Tryout in Grand Rapids on October 30

Steve Thonn is returning to Grand Rapids! At least for one day, that is. Thonn, who is the head coach of the Cleveland Gladiators, will hold an open player tryout on Sunday, October 30 at the Soccer Spot, the former training facility of the Grand Rapids Rampage.

29. Shock add former Cal Bear

The Spokane Shock announced today that DB Bryant Nnabuife (pronounced nuh-BOO-fee) has been added to the 2012 roster. Nnabuife, 6-1 195, started his professional football career earlier this year when he signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

30. Top playmaker Smith to return to Sharks

The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that another key member of the team�s championship secondary will return next season. WR/DB Terrance Smith has been assigned to the team for 2012 for what will be his second season with the Sharks and in the Arena Football League.

On Tuesday, the Iowa Barnstormers settled their head coaching vacancy by signing Mike Hohensee, one of the storied coaches in the history of this league. As reported by Bright House Sports Network on Thursday and later confirmed by the team, the Orlando Predators will be announcing Bret Munsey as their head coach on Friday. The Preds needed to scramble to find a new head coach when former coach Pat O'Hara moved on to the New Orleans VooDoo. With Hohensee moving to Iowa, unnamed sources are expecting former Georgia Force Head Coach Doug Plank to head to the City of Brotherly Love.

5. Breaking it Down - ArenaBowl XXIV

ArenaBowl XXIV featured a title-game record eleven lead changes, including four in the final 52 seconds. The last was the most dramatic and capped the greatest ArenaBowl in league history when Jacksonville QB Aaron Garcia hit receiver Jeron Harvey on a ten-yard strike as time expired that gave the Sharks an ArenaBowl title in just the team's second season. As usual, Breaking it Down will provide more insight into this great game than anywhere in the indoor football universe. Enjoy!

6. Nobody Beat's Aaron's! Sharks Win ArenaBowl XXIV

QB Aaron Garcia has his storybook ending after all. The quarterback for the Jacksonville Sharks called his own number on the final play of ArenaBowl XXIV and came up with the biggest play in his storied career. Thanks to WR Jeron Harvey's 10-yard TD reception with no time remaining, the Sharks beat the host Arizona Rattlers to claim ArenaBowl XXIV by a 73-70 score in front of 14,320 at the US Airways Center.

7. ArenaBowl XXIV Gamelog

Jacksonville Sharks quarterback Aaron Garcia completed a 10 yard pass to Jeron Harvey as time expired to win ArenaBowl XXIV 73-70 in front of 14,320 atthe U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The 143 total points is the most ever in ArenaBowl history.

8. Consensus Says Snakes Over Sharks in ArenaBowl XXIV

It's finally game day here in Phoenix, AZ, as the Arizona Rattlers and the Jacksonville Sharks are all set to take to the gridiron in a 5:30 local start time at the US Airways Center. There has been a ton of pomp and circumstance leading up to this one in the Desert, and now that most of the hoopla is done with, we're all set to make our picks for ArenaBowl XXIV!

9. Ten Selected For Arena Football League Hall of Fame

At halftime at ArenaBowl XXIV at the US Airways Center, Barry Wagner, George LaFrance, Hunkie Cooper, Eddie Brown, Darren Arbet, Sylvester Bembery, Sam Hernandez, Gene Nudo, Stevie Thomas, and Kurt Warner were announced as the Arena Football League Hall of Fame Class of 2011. Only five were expected to be selected.

10. Moss' Experience Dwarfs All In ArenaBowl XXIV

It took QB Aaron Garcia 201 games in the Arena Football League before finally getting here to the ArenaBowl in 2011. The Jacksonville Sharks might have had to travel across the country with virtually no practice, but their Head Coach Les Moss has more experience dealing with ArenaBowls than all of the players in the game combined.

11. Davila, Rattlers Ready to Roll in ArenaBowl XXIV

In 2009, the Spokane Shock went 15-1 in the regular season and rolled through the af2 playoffs to finish the campaign with 19 wins and the ArenaCup. That year, Nick Davila was the man under center for the Shock. On Friday night, Davila can lead the Arizona Rattlers to their 19th win of the season if he can get them past the Jacksonville Sharks in ArenaBowl XXIV.

12. Garcia Finally Ready for Big Show, Likely for the Final Time

It took over 6,000 pass attempts, 50,000 passing yards, and over 1,000 TD passes, but here Aaron Garcia is, leading the Jacksonville Sharks into ArenaBowl XXIV against the Arizona Rattlers.

13. In the End, Sharks/Rattlers Could Be Epic

I'm literally just minutes away from walking out of my house to drive over to Tampa Bay for our flight to Phoenix for ArenaBowl XXIV, and this stunning thought hit me: This really could be a damn good ArenaBowl! In a season with all sorts of duds for games and teams that were wildly inconsistent, we, the Arena Football fans, got exactly what we wanted in this game.

14. Breaking it Down - 2011 Conference Championships

In Week One, Arizona hosted Jacksonville with the Rattlers pulling off a last-minute win. Five months to the day later, the two teams will meet this Friday in ArenaBowl XXIV. Arizona and Jacksonville had two of the greatest regular seasons of any team in league history and play in one of the most anticipated matchups in title game history. Join me as I breakdown the conference championships, the ArenaBowl and these two terrific teams.

15. R.I.P. Ironman Football

On Monday, August 8, 2011 at 4:46 PM Eastern Time, ironman football officially died when the league announced that for the first time in the league's 24-year history that the Ironman of the Year was a player that didn't play both offense and defense. The league went against its own definition of what the term "ironman" means as defined on page seven of the 2011 AFL Record & Fact Book -- ironman "signifies participants playing both offense and defense."

16. Arizona Rattlers To Host Jacksonville Sharks in ArenaBowl XXIV

ArenaBowl XXIV is officially set! The National Conference champs, the Arizona Rattlers will take on the Jacksonville Sharks, the American Conference champions on Friday night at 8:30 ET. The ArenaBowl will be played at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ.

17. O'Hara Move to VooDoo Imminent

On Monday night, the Orlando Predators announced that they were parting ways with Head Coach Pat O'Hara. Multiple sources have confirmed to ArenaFan that O'Hara has accepted a job with the New Orleans VooDoo that should be announced in the coming week.

18. Player-games: Arizona�s most ridiculous league-leading stat

When the Arizona Rattlers beat the Spokane Shock handily last Friday, some insane fans began to intimate that head coach Rob Keefe should be fired for managing just a 9-9 record and a first-round playoff loss. I went through and counted player-games for each of the teams that made the playoffs. The numbers made Spokane�s season all the more amazing and the Rattlers� relative ease of victory seem, in retrospect, blindingly obvious.

19. Breaking it Down - 2011 Quarterfinals

The teams with the best records in each of the four first-round playoff matchups all won for the first time since 1996. Jacksonville and Chicago beat their respective opponents for a third time on the season to advance to the Conference Championship game. Both teams lost their first-round playoff games last season. Arizona blew out the defending champs. Despite having a better record, Georgia went on the road and still beat Cleveland. Lots of history, lots of stats, lots of information. Breaking it Down starts now�

20. Onside Kick Moves Rush to Finals

When a team goes into a game, there is always a 50/50 chance that the team is going to win. Similarly, there is also a 50/50 chance that a team is going to recover an onside kick during the game. Combine the two and your chances of winning a game and recovering an onside kick become significantly smaller.

21. Gladiators Fall to Force in Playoffs 50-41

The Cleveland Gladiators were the #2 ranked team in the American Conference this season, but on Sunday (July 31) they came up a little short to the visiting Georgia Force in a 50-41 playoff loss. The game was not without drama, however, and the final outcome was in questions until the final seconds of the game.

22. Pat O'Hara Out as Preds Head Coach, Could Be Headed To VooDoo

Just days after the team's 63-48 loss to the Jacksonville Sharks, the Orlando Predators parted ways with Head Coach Pat O'Hara. The announcement was made by the Preds on Monday night.

25. Ranking the Elite Eight

The largely irrelevant Week 20 of the regular season was also largely irrelevant in my rankings, as the playoff teams held onto the top eight spots despite uninspiring efforts across most of the board. Since the other 10 teams have ended their season, there�s no need to rank them anymore; let�s get to the postseason rankings.
