HOCKEY BETTING TIPS
Hi, folks, Bob Akmens here. Over the many years I've run a sports service, people often ask me: "what's the best sport to bet?" Pound for pound, probably the sport you can make the most money betting is hockey.

This surprises many, so let's talk about why I think this is true......

The Locker Room at BetUS Sportsbook
To me, this NHL season is such an open and shut case. The Detroit Red Wings were such an omnipotent force in the NHL last year; it was almost fruitless for the betting community to get excited about anyone else. The Penguins, Rangers and Habs all made us excited in the Eastern Conference, but for no apparent reason.
Even though most of the Pacific Division's games occur too late in the night for BetUS hockey betting enthusiasts to enjoy them, that doesn't mean that they should ignore them altogether. Some of the league's best get stuck in the 10:30 PM ET timeslot on a nightly basis, including Chris Pronger, Joe Thornton and Anze Kopitar.
For all of the Canadian hockey wagering enthusiasts out there, this is probably the preview you've been looking forward to. The Northeast has changed hands in terms of dominance many times since its inception. Last season, we saw a new face atop the list -- the Montreal Canadiens.
Although Mats Sundin hasn’t decided his hockey future yet, it doesn’t mean that the rest of us have to sit on our hands. While this Russian Hockey League debacle mounts to hilarious proportions, and everyone gets excited for the coming NFL betting season, the smart betting investors have been keeping their eyes on the NHL market. Twenty years ago, the Edmonton Oilers did the...
The NHL released its 2008-09 110-game preseason schedule that last from Sept. 20 through Oct. 6, and the slate takes on a robust international flavor. The Ottawa Senators will host the New York Rangers to open the NHL preseason on Saturday, Sept.
Online hockey betting enthusiasts will certainly have their eyes on the other side of the board and a different set of channels this winter. With the exception of the eventual Stanley Cup final result, the Eastern Conference was a decidedly more exciting place to be. Sidney Crosby and Alexander Oveckhin of course hogged the highlight reels, but there was a hefty supporting cast in between the...
Pittsburgh finally cracked Chris Osgood and the blue-line of Detroit since this sports betting series kicked off. Is Osgood’s confidence shattered? Hardly. But now the dangerous factor remains that Pittsburgh knows it can get shots on net. Pittsburgh rifled 24 shots on net, while more than a handful of shots dinged off the post.
Suddenly Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins don’t look so dead to the sports betting community after all.
The Pittsburgh Penguins won the Eastern Conference championship and a trip to the http://www.betus.com/sports-betting/nhl-hockey" href_cetemp="NHL'>http://www.betus.com/sports-betting/nhl-hockey">NHL finals for the first time since 1992 by crushing its opponents.
Dallas Stars (45-30-7) vs. Detroit Red Wings (54-21-7) Saturday, May 17th --- Joe Louis Arena, Detroit --- 1:30pm EST Series: Det 3-1 NHL Betting Line: Detroit -270 Dallas is one of the best teams in the NHL, and they’re massive underdogs in tonight’s sports betting contest. You really have to hand it to them in Game 4. They got everything they needed from Brendan Morrow, perhaps...

The Locker Room at BetUS Sportsbook
There is perhaps no wilder division in all of hockey betting than the one in the Southeast. Unfortunately, until recently, it’s also been relatively futile in terms of strength. Think: The NL West in baseball.
Pittsburgh came out in Saturday’s sports betting Stanley Cup contest looking like a herd of sheep, with Detroit playing the part of Sheppard. They came out like a house of fire, and were stumped in consecutive power plays which snuffed their energy in a hurry. Now they find themselves down heading in to Game 2 as huge road dogs again. Pittsburgh Penguins (47-27-8) vs....
The online NHL betting fans in The City of Brotherly Love are currently full of hatred for their intra-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins, who'll have brooms in tow for Thursday's sports betting Game 4 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final at the Wachovia Center against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Pens are an eye-popping and wallet fattening 11-1 straight up in this year's postseason,...
Detroit Red Wings (54-21-7) vs. Dallas Stars (45-30-7) Monday, May 12th --- American Airlines Center, Dallas --- 8:00pm EST Series: Det 2-0 NHL Betting Line: Detroit -125 Road favorites?! That’s hilarious. Detroit stomped all over Dallas in the first two online betting games at home and the frustrations spilled over like a glass of milk. Dallas’s leading scorer, Mike...
The Philadelphia Flyers have paid off for those doing any NHL sports betting on them through the first two rounds of the NHL playoffs, but do they have what it takes to get past the state-rival Pittsburgh Penguins and be crowned this year’s Eastern Conference champs? We’ll start to get an answer to that question when their hard hitting online betting series starts on Friday....
Dallas Stars @ Detroit Red Wings It’s been four days since the Dallas Stars eliminated the San Jose Sharks and even though the NHL has lost some online betting playoff momentum (basically because they don’t know how to make a proper schedule), the Conference Finals round finally begins on Thursday. The Dallas Stars – along with the Philadelphia Flyers...
The Philadelphia Flyers’ up-and-down season is on another upswing heading into the weekend, as they can advance to the Eastern Conference final with a road win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.
Pittsburgh Penguins (47-27-8) vs. New York Rangers (42-27-13) Thursday, May 1st --- Madison Square Garden, NYC --- 7:00pm EST Series: Pit 3-0 NHL Betting Line: Pittsburgh -120 You’d think that the Penguins would’ve lost some momentum after such a long break between online betting series after they swept the Ottawa Senators in four. Especially when they ran into a supposed...
Colorado Avalanche (44-31-7) vs. Detroit Red Wings (54-21-7) Season Series: 4-0 This has to be a hockey bettor’s dream come true.
Washington Capitals (43-31-8) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (42-29-11) Monday, April 21st --- Wachovia Center, Philadelphia --- 7:00pm EST Series: Phi 3-2 NHL Betting Line: Philadelphia -145 Today in online hockey betting we focus on the young guns, namely Alexander Semin, who came out blazing in the 3-2 victory from Saturday. And now the Flyers need a win to prevent sending this to a...
